Practical overview
When it fits
Use Catvton when you need an image-based virtual try-on model and can work with its documented Python setup, Gradio app or ComfyUI workflow.
Who it is for
- Developers building image-based virtual try-on prototypes
- Researchers experimenting with fashion image generation
- ComfyUI users who want to add a virtual try-on workflow
Documented uses
- Generate images showing a garment on a person.
- Run virtual try-on inference against VITON-HD or DressCode data.
- Evaluate generated images against reference images with the repository's metric script.
Requirements & limits
The repository documents a local Python setup and a Hugging Face demo. It states that the code, checkpoints and demo are licensed under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 for non-commercial reuse with attribution and share-alike terms.
- The repository specifies Python 3.9 for its Conda installation.
- The project states that simplified inference at 1024×768 uses under 8 GB VRAM.
- The first ComfyUI workflow run automatically downloads weights and usually takes dozens of minutes.
- Dataset inference requires VITON-HD or DressCode; DressCode preparation includes an agnostic-mask preprocessing script.
- The documented license limits reuse to non-commercial purposes subject to its terms.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install CatVTON’s Python requirements
Create the documented Python 3.9 Conda environment and install the project requirements.
Before you start
- Conda is available.
- The CatVTON project directory is available.
Steps
Create an environment with Python 3.9.0:
conda create -n catvton python==3.9.0.Activate it with
conda activate catvton.Change to the CatVTON project directory (
cd CatVTON-main, or use your project path).Install dependencies with the command below.
pip install -r requirements.txt
Expected outcome
The CatVTON Conda environment is created and the requirements are installed.
Guide limitations
- This covers installation only; it does not establish that the environment has been tested or run.
- Further setup stages are described in the project’s [ComfyUI deployment and inference instructions](https://github.com/Zheng-Chong/CatVTON/blob/main/README.md).
Compare options for Model inference and serving
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Catvton | Generate images showing a garment on a person. | Cloud, Self-hosted | The repository documents a local Python setup and a Hugging Face demo. It states that the code, checkpoints and demo are licensed under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 for non-commercial reuse with attribution and share-alike terms. |
| Controlvideo | Generate video from a text prompt with structural guidance. | Linux | The implementation is available as a public GitHub repository under the MIT license. The README separately links to Hugging Face and Replicate demos. |
| Firered Image Edit | Apply a requested change to an input image using a written prompt. | Linux, Self-hosted | The repository lists an Apache-2.0 license and links to model and demo pages on Hugging Face and ModelScope. |
