Practical overview
When it fits
Use BlockBuster when a server-side Rust data pipeline needs program-aware parsing of Solana Geyser transaction or account-update messages, especially for the listed Metaplex-related programs.
Who it is for
- Developers building Solana indexing pipelines.
- Teams processing Metaplex asset activity or program data.
- Developers integrating Geyser message producers with downstream data systems.
Documented uses
- Parse transaction and account-update messages using program-specific contract knowledge.
- Turn supported Geyser messages into data suitable for downstream indexing and operations.
- Interpret messages for Gummyroll, Bubblegum, SPL Token, Token Metadata, Auction House, Candy Machine and Hydra.
Requirements & limits
- The library is written in Rust and intended for server-side use.
- Plerkle Serialization is the described preferred message source; alternate producers must supply the required FlatBuffer types.
- Parser coverage is limited to the programs listed in the repository documentation.
- The repository specifies the AGPL-3.0 license.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Prepare FlatBuffer inputs for BlockBuster parsing
Set up an upstream message source that provides the FlatBuffer data BlockBuster consumes.
Before you start
- A Geyser plugin message source using Plerkle Serialization, or another program able to create the required FlatBuffer data types.
Steps
Configure the upstream message producer to emit Plerkle Serialization FlatBuffer messages from a Geyser plugin.
If using a different producer, provide data in the required FlatBuffer types.
Pass the resulting transaction or account-update messages to BlockBuster’s program parsers.
Expected outcome
BlockBuster receives transaction or account-update messages in its documented input format for parsing.
Guide limitations
- The README describes the input format and supported parsers, but does not document installation, parser invocation, or downstream indexing steps.
- Parsers are specific to listed programs and their relationship to Metaplex assets; interpreting some instruction details requires knowledge of contract APIs.
