Practical overview
When it fits
Use AuditPilot when an audit project needs evidence gathering, control testing, review and remediation connected in one traceable workspace, or when a team wants to adapt the included audit templates.
Who it is for
- Audit teams organizing evidence requests, control tests and findings.
- Organizations that want to adapt audit workflows to their own standards, controls and evidence sources.
- Teams evaluating agent outputs and routing uncertain or evidence-deficient results for review.
Documented uses
- Retrieve audit evidence with source references and identify missing or conflicting material.
- Build control matrices, sampling plans and test procedures from versioned templates.
- Track findings, remediation owners, due dates, status and review comments.
- Evaluate agent tasks, traces, tools, evidence and permissions before release.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and marked open source. It documents local startup on Python 3.10 or newer. No license is specified in the repository metadata.
- Default retrieval uses TF-IDF and keyword search; semantic embeddings are optional.
- A model key is not required for the documented deterministic fallback mode.
- Production or shared network use requires enforced security configuration, bearer tokens and an audit-log signing key.
- Optional integrations include MySQL, Neo4j and local semantic embeddings.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Start AuditPilot locally
Prepare and launch the documented local application.
Before you start
- Python 3.10 or newer
- The project repository and its requirements file
Steps
Create and activate a Python virtual environment.
Install dependencies with pip install -r requirements.txt.
Copy config.env.example to config.env.
Run python start.py and open the address printed in the terminal.
Expected outcome
The local application starts; the README says it can run in deterministic fallback mode without a model key.
Guide limitations
- This guide covers local startup, not production deployment.
- Shared or network deployment requires enforced security mode, managed bearer tokens and an audit-log signing key.
