Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when an Aptos application needs reusable wallet connection logic, wallet-selection UI, or the repository’s documented cross-chain and derived-wallet modules.

Who it is for

  • Developers building Aptos dapps
  • Teams integrating wallet connectivity into React applications
  • Wallet builders working with the Aptos adapter packages
  • Developers prototyping selected cross-chain USDC or derived-wallet flows

Documented uses

  • Connect a React-based Aptos dapp to supported wallets
  • Add pre-built Ant Design or Material-UI wallet-selection components
  • Support cross-chain USDC transfers between Aptos and other named chains through Circle’s CCTP
  • Prototype Aptos wallets derived from Ethereum, Solana, or Sui keys
  • Use the included Next.js applications as integration starting points

Requirements & limits

The repository is publicly accessible and open source under the Apache-2.0 license. Local development requires Node.js 22.13.0 or higher, pnpm 11.8.0, and TypeScript 7.0 or higher.

  • The React package supplies a provider and hooks for wallet integration.
  • Separate UI packages target Ant Design and Material-UI.
  • The cross-chain core package is described for USDC transfers via Circle’s CCTP.
  • Derived-wallet packages cover Ethereum/EVM, Solana, and Sui sources.
  • The repository includes basic wallet-adapter and cross-chain Next.js examples.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up the Aptos Wallet Adapter repository locally

Install the monorepo, build its packages, and start the included Next.js demo app.

Before you start

  • Node.js 22.13.0 or higher
  • pnpm 11.8.0
  • TypeScript 7.0 or higher
  • A local Git installation

Steps

  1. Clone the repository with git clone https://github.com/aptos-labs/aptos-wallet-adapter.git.

  2. From the repository root, run pnpm install.

  3. From the repository root, run pnpm turbo run build.

  4. From the repository root, run pnpm turbo run dev to start the Next.js demo app at https://localhost:3000.

Expected outcome

The repository is installed and built, and its Next.js demo app is started locally.

Guide limitations

  • These steps document local setup and demo startup; they do not establish compatibility with a particular external application or wallet.
  • The repository notes that Vue and Nuxt integration is maintained separately.
