Practical overview
When it fits
Use Anoma when the task involves building, running, studying or contributing to the Anoma protocol implementation rather than using a hosted end-user application.
Who it is for
- Blockchain developers implementing or studying Anoma
- Protocol researchers working with the published specifications
- Contributors who want to inspect issues, build the codebase or submit changes
- Engineers evaluating a self-hosted consensus and peer-to-peer protocol implementation
Documented uses
- Run a released Anoma node from a downloaded binary
- Compile the reference implementation from source
- Start an Anoma instance in interactive or non-interactive mode
- Build and run a Docker image
- Track implementation progress and contribute through the repository workflow
Requirements & limits
The repository is publicly accessible and licensed under MIT. The documented workflows require local dependencies for release execution, source compilation or Docker use.
- Source compilation requires Elixir, Rust, Protobuf and the version-sensitive protoc-gen-elixir 0.11.0 plugin.
- The repository documents separate prerequisite paths for macOS, Ubuntu/Debian and Windows.
- Docker is supported as a documented build and run path, with host networking used in the example.
- The implementation and the protocol specifications are maintained at separate locations.
- The repository notes possible enacl and Cairo compilation issues and provides project-specific troubleshooting suggestions.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
