Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when an Ethereum or EVM project is written in Rust and needs foundational data, ABI, EIP-712, JSON-ABI or Solidity tooling inside the application or developer stack.
Who it is for
- Rust developers building Ethereum or EVM applications
- Teams integrating Solidity contracts and Ethereum data into Rust software
- Developers needing reusable ABI, EIP-712, primitive-type or parsing libraries
Documented uses
- Represent Ethereum-oriented integer, byte and other primitive values
- Encode and decode contract interfaces through compile-time or run-time ABI tooling
- Work with EIP-712 data and Ethereum JSON-ABI definitions
- Parse Solidity types and integrate Solidity interfaces into Rust code
- Provide core library components for Ethereum-compatible applications
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and identifies Apache-2.0 licensing; its license text states that the crates are available under either Apache-2.0 or MIT at the contributor’s option. Rust 1.85 is the stated current minimum supported version.
- Rust is required as the implementation language.
- The workspace is organized as multiple crates, including alloy-core, alloy-primitives, alloy-sol-types, alloy-dyn-abi, alloy-json-abi, alloy-sol-type-parser and syn-solidity.
- The project states support for all wasm*-* targets.
- For wasm32-unknown-unknown with getrandom enabled, an additional feature configuration is required.
- The repository states there is no planned official JavaScript or TypeScript interface; it points to viem or ethers.js for that use case.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
