Practical overview
When it fits
Use Aiwg when AI-assisted work needs persistent project artifacts, repeatable specialist workflows or coordination across multiple coding environments.
Who it is for
- Software teams coordinating AI-assisted development work
- Developers using more than one supported AI coding tool
- Teams that need reusable specialist procedures and project knowledge across sessions
- Operators organizing research, incident investigation or other documented workflows
Documented uses
- Preserve project decisions and operational knowledge between AI-assisted sessions
- Coordinate specialist reviews and software-planning workflows
- Apply reusable rules, templates and skills across supported AI tools
- Organize research, incident investigation, campaigns or media-curation work
Requirements & limits
The repository is publicly accessible and MIT-licensed. The documented manual installation uses npm and requires Node.js 20 or later. No account, pricing or general service-availability requirement is established here.
- Whether the team needs project artifacts that carry decisions between sessions
- Whether its AI coding tools are among the documented supported environments
- Whether optional native capabilities such as semantic search or graph-backed artifacts are needed
- Whether the workflow benefits from specialist agents, reusable rules and templates
- Whether a self-hosted executor is appropriate for long-running agents
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install and connect Aiwg to an AI coding tool
Deploy, connect and verify Aiwg for an existing project using a supported provider.
Before you start
- Node.js 20 or later for the documented manual installation.
- An existing project and a supported AI tool or provider name, such as Claude Code, Codex, Copilot or Cursor.
Steps
Install the global package with npm.
Change to the project directory.
Run
aiwg use all --provider, replacing the placeholder with the selected provider name.Review the command’s deployment, indexing, connection and verification result.
Expected outcome
Aiwg reports one deployment and verification outcome for the selected provider.
Guide limitations
- The base installation excludes optional native packages; capabilities such as interactive terminals, semantic search or graph-backed artifacts require separate feature installation.
- The documented setup does not establish that every provider has identical capabilities.
