Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when developing a short-drama premise into episodes or a production handoff, especially when serial continuity and structured shot planning matter.
Who it is for
- Writers developing short-drama concepts, episodes or serialized seasons with a supported Skills client.
- Creators who need continuity across characters, world rules, episode payoffs and state changes.
- Production planners who want to record model constraints, recurring-character assets and shot timelines.
Documented uses
- Evaluate concepts before developing them into a story bible.
- Plan seasons and episodes around episode turns, payoffs, cliffhangers and state changes.
- Route a project among supported short-drama formats and prepare model-aware shot timelines.
- Produce structured production packs and use schemas and lint tools to check story contracts and production plans.
Requirements & limits
The repository is publicly available, open source and MIT-licensed. Installation instructions are provided for Codex and Claude Code Skills directories.
- The core deliverable is story development and a production pack, not an automatically assembled video.
- Media-generation suggestions use a separately referenced companion tool; automatic video assembly needs a separate executor or compatible editing tool.
- The Skill's schemas and lint tools check specified story and production-plan structures; model capabilities still need to be confirmed for the intended production.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install AI Short Drama as a Codex or Claude Code Skill
Place the Skill in the documented directory for the client you use.
Before you start
- A Codex or Claude Code installation that supports Skills.
- Git, to clone the repository.
Steps
For Codex, clone the repository to ~/.codex/skills/ai-short-drama.
For Claude Code, clone it to ~/.claude/skills/ai-short-drama.
After installation, invoke $ai-short-drama with a story premise and a requested development task.
Expected outcome
The Skill is placed in the selected client's Skills directory and can be invoked with a premise, such as a request for a three-episode pilot.
Guide limitations
- The documented instructions cover Codex and Claude Code; other compatible clients are mentioned, but their installation paths are not specified.
- Automatic video assembly requires a separate executor or compatible editing tool.
