Practical overview
When it fits
Use MisakaNet when an agent workflow needs searchable failure-and-recovery lessons, either from the shared MCP endpoint or a local corpus clone.
Who it is for
- People configuring AI assistants to search shared troubleshooting lessons through MCP.
- Agent developers who want to query a local clone of the lesson corpus.
- Teams or agent workflows that can contribute resolved debugging failures as reusable reports.
Documented uses
- Search for prior lessons related to an error or troubleshooting problem.
- Give an MCP-capable assistant access to the shared lesson index.
- Search a cloned lesson corpus locally with the Python script.
- Submit a failure report so a resolved problem can become a reusable lesson.
Requirements & limits
The privacy page says searching and submitting an intake work without an account, email address, or API key. The install guide documents anonymous remote reads and a burst limit on the index.
- The remote route uses MCP; the local route requires cloning the repository and running its Python search script.
- The install command writes client-specific configuration, and restart requirements vary by assistant.
- The project terms identify the repository and lessons as Apache-2.0 licensed.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up MisakaNet MCP search
Add MisakaNet's MCP configuration to a supported assistant and check what the installer can reach.
Before you start
- Node.js and npx
- An assistant client listed in the MisakaNet install guide
Steps
Run npx @misaka-net/misakanet-setup.
Follow the client-specific configuration and restart guidance shown in the install guide.
Run npx @misaka-net/misakanet-setup --verify.
Expected outcome
The assistant has MisakaNet MCP configuration, and the verification command reports what the installer found and could not reach.
Guide limitations
- Configuration locations and whether a new session is needed depend on the client.
- This setup does not document a successful search result as guaranteed.
Search a cloned lesson corpus locally
Run the documented BM25 search script against a local MisakaNet clone.
Before you start
- Git
- Python and pip
Steps
Clone https://github.com/Ikalus1988/MisakaNet.git.
Change into the MisakaNet directory.
Install the package with pip install misakanet-core.
Run python3 search_knowledge.py with an error query and an optional --top count.
Expected outcome
The local script searches the cloned lesson corpus for the supplied error query.
Guide limitations
- The guide does not describe synchronization or updating the cloned corpus.
