Practical overview
When it fits
Consider Fluence when an NLP experiment needs one of its documented methods and the project’s early-stage status and trainer-version constraint fit the workflow.
Who it is for
- NLP researchers exploring low-resource and computationally efficient methods.
- Developers prototyping transformer training or robustness experiments with PyTorch.
Documented uses
- Experiment with adaptive attention, sparse transformers or structured dropout.
- Build training workflows using importance sampling and optimizer modules.
- Test debiasing methods on learned NLP representations.
- Explore pruning as a way to reduce model computation.
Requirements & limits
- Fluence is identified as pre-alpha, and its documentation is a work in progress.
- The meta-trainer and Siamese-trainer modules depend on Transformers 3.0's inherited Trainer interface; newer versions changed that interface.
- The repository is licensed under Apache-2.0.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install Fluence from its repository
Install the development version using the repository's documented setup steps.
Before you start
- Python 3
- A shell environment with Git
Steps
Clone https://github.com/prajjwal1/fluence.
Change into the fluence directory.
Run the command below.
python3 setup.py install --user
Expected outcome
The repository's development version is installed for the current user.
Guide limitations
- The project is identified as pre-alpha, and its documentation is described as a work in progress.
- This setup procedure does not establish that a particular experiment or model workflow will run successfully.
