Practical overview

When it fits

Use ETH95 when you need a browser-based way to interact with project contracts and have their ABI or JSON artifacts available.

Who it is for

  • Ethereum dapp developers who have contract ABIs or JSON artifacts.
  • Developers who want a local browser UI for contract calls and artifact updates.

Documented uses

  • Call contract functions using an ABI.
  • Connect the interface to localhost:8545, MetaMask or a custom node URL.
  • Watch a project artifacts folder and have the interface update when files change.
  • Encode a call for a proxy to submit on the user's behalf.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • The tool requires an ABI or artifact for each contract; artifacts can be loaded from a directory or added manually.
  • The local server watches the supplied artifact directory and serves the frontend at localhost:3000 by default.
  • Connection options include localhost:8545, MetaMask and a custom node URL.
  • The repository displays an MIT license badge.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Start ETH95 with a project artifacts folder

Install ETH95 and serve its contract interface using a JSON artifacts directory.

Before you start

  • npm
  • A dapp project's JSON artifacts folder

Steps

  1. Install ETH95 globally with the command below.

    Documented command
    npm install -g eth95
  2. Run eth95 ./build/contracts, substituting the path to your artifacts folder.

Expected outcome

An Express server serves the ETH95 frontend at localhost:3000 and watches the specified artifacts directory for changes.

Guide limitations

  • The guide covers starting the interface; it does not document contract-specific interaction steps.
  • The documented default is localhost:3000; a port can be set with the -p flag.
