Practical overview
When it fits
Use Brainstormers when an open-ended idea session would benefit from a defined method, such as mapping a new topic, reframing a problem or examining a product idea from different perspectives.
Who it is for
- People exploring a new project or broad topic through mind mapping.
- Teams or individuals reframing problems, identifying risks or considering stakeholder perspectives.
- Product thinkers iterating on an existing idea with SCAMPER.
- Planners who want to organize exploration around questions such as who, what, where, when, why and how.
Documented uses
- Expand a topic into idea branches and detailed sub-ideas.
- Identify ways a problem might arise and turn those factors into possible solutions.
- Generate ideas from different persona perspectives.
- Apply six structured techniques to generate, examine or refine ideas.
- Ask follow-up questions to develop generated ideas further.
Requirements & limits
- The documented AI workflow requires an OpenAI API key.
- Six methods offer distinct ways to organize ideation rather than a single general prompt.
- The README describes streaming responses, session history and organized idea-tree output.
- The repository identifies Next.js 15, React 19 and TypeScript, alongside Tailwind CSS and Zustand.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
