Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you need a concrete AWS-oriented starting point for studying or adapting ERC-721 deployment and related serverless NFT operations.
Who it is for
- Developers exploring an AWS-based ERC-721 deployment pattern.
- Teams adapting serverless components for NFT minting or token-owner queries.
- Readers studying how an application can connect AWS services to an Ethereum node.
Documented uses
- Deploy an ERC-721 contract using the sample's AWS stack.
- Mint NFT tokens through the sample API flow.
- Query the owner of a specified minted token.
- Handle deployment confirmation notifications using SNS and a Fargate task.
Requirements & limits
The code is published under the MIT-0 license. The documented deployment requires an AWS account and AWS resources.
- The sample is JavaScript and specifies Node.js 14 in its prerequisites.
- Deployment requires an AWS VPC and public subnet, AWS SAM CLI, Docker and suitable AWS permissions.
- The documented transaction flow handles a private-public key pair and advises caution about using Parameter Store for wallets holding real funds.
- The README describes Rinkeby and Ropsten configuration, so its network-specific instructions should be evaluated against the intended environment.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Build and deploy the AWS sample stack
Use the repository's AWS SAM template to build and deploy its serverless stack.
Before you start
- AWS account with a VPC and public subnet, plus permissions required to create the resources and make S3 objects public
- AWS SAM CLI
- Node.js 14 with npm
- Docker Community Edition
Steps
Change to the serverless/ directory and run sam build.
Run sam deploy --guided --capabilities CAPABILITY_NAMED_IAM.
Supply the requested stack, region, notification email, subnet, metadata bucket, confirmation, cluster, container, repository, IP whitelist, network, instance and availability-zone parameters, then confirm the changes.
Expected outcome
The SAM template deploys the sample's Ethereum node and serverless components, including Lambda, API Gateway, SNS and Fargate resources.
Guide limitations
- The README's example configuration names Rinkeby and offers Ropsten as a parameter choice; it does not establish current support for those networks.
- The documented stack flow also requires building, tagging and pushing a Docker image to the created ECR repository before the serverless stack is complete.
- A transaction key and test-network tokens are needed for the described contract transactions; the README warns Parameter Store may not be sufficient for wallets holding real funds.
