Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you want a Truffle-based example to inspect or adapt for a Chainlink smart-contract integration, especially as part of a local development and testing workflow.
Who it is for
- Developers learning or using Truffle for smart-contract development.
- Developers exploring example integrations with Chainlink features.
Documented uses
- Inspect example contracts for Price Feeds, VRF, Keepers and request-and-receive data.
- Set up the project dependencies and run its included tests.
- Use Truffle to migrate contracts to a configured local or other network.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and open source under the MIT license.
- The documented development stack is Truffle with JavaScript, and the README recommends prior familiarity with Truffle.
- The examples cover four named Chainlink features: Price Feeds, VRF, Keepers and request-and-receive data.
- The README documents a local Ganache workflow as well as network-specific deployment; testnet and live-network use requires ETH and LINK, and its Sepolia VRF setup requires a VRF V2 subscription.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the starter kit and run its tests
Set up the repository and start its included test suite.
Before you start
- Git
- Node.js
- Yarn, or npm and npx
- Prior familiarity with Truffle is recommended
Steps
Clone the repository and change into its directory.
Install dependencies with yarn or npm i.
Run truffle test.
Expected outcome
Truffle runs the JavaScript, TypeScript and Solidity tests in the ./test folder; if no development network is specified, it automatically starts and stops a local network on localhost:8545.
Guide limitations
- This guide covers setup and the documented test command, not changes to the examples or test results.
Deploy contracts to a configured local Ganache network
Start the documented local blockchain and direct a Truffle migration to it.
Before you start
- The repository's Truffle project and dependencies
- Ganache
- A local ganache network defined in truffle-config
Steps
Start Ganache with ganache -d.
Run truffle migrate --network ganache.
Expected outcome
Truffle is instructed to migrate contracts to the configured ganache network.
Guide limitations
- The instructions describe deployment to the local network only; they do not establish that deployment has been executed or that a particular contract is ready for live use.
