Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a coding goal can be split into parallel tasks and CLI agents can work in separate Git worktrees. It offers an OpenClaw-default setup and also documents several other agent options.
Who it is for
- Developers coordinating multiple command-line coding agents on a shared project.
- Teams that want to divide coding work into separate worker tasks and monitor progress.
Documented uses
- Create a team around a coding goal.
- Spawn agents to handle distinct implementation or testing tasks.
- Coordinate worker tasks and messages through CLI commands.
- Monitor team activity through a board interface.
Requirements & limits
The project is open source under the MIT license. It is installed from its GitHub repository using Python packaging.
- Requires Python 3.10 or later and at least one CLI coding agent.
- OpenClaw is the default; Claude Code, Codex, nanobot and Hermes Agent are also documented as supported.
- Cursor support is marked experimental.
- Linux and macOS use a tmux-first workflow; Windows 10/11 defaults to subprocess, and
board attachrequires tmux. - ZeroMQ peer-to-peer transport is optional and installed through the
[p2p]extra.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install Clawteam Openclaw from its repository
Install the repository version of the CLI framework so its OpenClaw adaptations are used.
Before you start
- Python 3.10 or later
- Git
- At least one CLI coding agent for using the framework
Steps
Clone https://github.com/win4r/ClawTeam-OpenClaw.git.
Change into the cloned ClawTeam-OpenClaw directory.
Run the command below from the repository directory.
pip install -e .
Expected outcome
Clawteam is installed from the local repository.
Guide limitations
- The README warns that
pip install clawteaminstalls the upstream PyPI version rather than this repository's OpenClaw adaptations. - The optional ZeroMQ transport requires installing the
[p2p]extra.
Create a team and launch coding workers
Set up a team and spawn separate workers for distinct coding tasks.
Before you start
- Clawteam installed from the repository
- Python 3.10 or later
- At least one supported CLI coding agent
- On Linux or macOS, tmux for the full visual workflow; on Windows, the default subprocess backend can be used
Steps
Create a team with
clawteam team spawn-team my-team -d "Build the auth module" -n leader.Spawn workers with
clawteam spawn --team my-team --agent-name alice --task "Implement OAuth2 flow"andclawteam spawn --team my-team --agent-name bob --task "Write unit tests for auth".Run
clawteam board serve --port 8080to monitor the team.
Expected outcome
A team with separate worker tasks is created and can be monitored through the board server.
Guide limitations
- The documented tmux attach workflow is for Linux, macOS or WSL; Windows users can use the board server.
- Cursor is listed as experimental.
Compare options for Agent orchestration
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clawteam Openclaw | Create a team around a coding goal. | CLI | The project is open source under the MIT license. It is installed from its GitHub repository using Python packaging. |
| Massgen | Run multiple AI agents against the same user task. | CLI | The repository documents installation through pip or uv and requires Python 3.11 or later. Setup can configure API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI; credentials are needed for the selected model backends. |
| Langchain Multi Agents Boilerplate | Route incoming football questions to model and agent workflows according to task complexity. | Web | The repository is public and specifies an MIT license. Running the application requires OpenAI and Groq API keys and a Redis server. |
