  • Generate previews for supported image, audio, video and document formats, and display EXIF metadata.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • Lightning Charge must be set up separately and configured with a required charge token.
  • A token secret is required for HMAC access tokens; the initialization command generates one.
  • File prices can be set globally and overridden per file; configuration also supports descriptions and nested file paths.
  • Preview generation uses additional system tools, including FFmpeg, GraphicsMagick, unoconv and node-canvas dependencies.
  • The browsing interface is documented as working without JavaScript.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up a Filebazaar storefront

Install Filebazaar, configure its required credentials and start the server for a directory of files.

Before you start

  • Lightning Charge set up, with a charge token available.
  • Node.js/npm environment and the listed system dependencies: exiftool, ffmpeg, graphicsmagick, unoconv, libcairo2-dev, libjpeg8-dev, libpango1.0-dev, libgif-dev, build-essential and g++.
  • A directory containing the files to sell.

Steps

  1. Install Filebazaar globally with the command below.

    Documented command
    npm install -g filebazaar
  2. Create or enter the directory containing the files to sell, then run filebazaar init to create _filebazaar.yaml.

  3. Edit the configuration to provide charge_token; token_secret is generated by initialization. Set file pricing or other documented options as needed.

  4. Run filebazaar from the configured working directory to start the server.

Expected outcome

A running Filebazaar web interface for browsing the configured files, connected to Lightning Charge.

Guide limitations

  • The README does not detail the payment flow or describe deployment beyond the documented server configuration.
  • The listed preview dependencies cover metadata extraction and preview generation; the README does not establish that previews are generated for every file format.
