Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you already have a JSONL export and want a local, whole-snapshot view of rent-exempt status and lamport concentration.
Who it is for
- Solana program and account operators reviewing storage-bond balances.
- Developers who need to inspect captured account snapshots for underfunded accounts or balance distribution.
Documented uses
- Find accounts below a rent-exempt minimum calculated at a selected lamports-per-byte rate.
- Summarize locked bonds, deficits, observed balances and closure-related reclaimable amounts.
- See how lamports are distributed across data-size bands and account owners.
- Review malformed JSONL records by line number without losing the rest of the analysis.
Requirements & limits
The Python core runs with the standard library; the repository also documents installation of a console script with pip. The public repository specifies the MIT license.
- Input must be a JSONL account export; the documented CLI analyzes supplied snapshots rather than fetching live data.
- The rent-exempt calculation uses a chosen lamports-per-byte rate.
- Reports are available as line-oriented text or JSON with fixed field names.
- Executable program accounts appear in status counts but are excluded from bands and locked totals.
- A TypeScript verifier provides a second implementation for cross-checking rules; the primary tool is the Python CLI.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Run an audit on a JSONL snapshot
Generate a text report of rent-exempt status and balance distribution from a captured account snapshot.
Before you start
- Python
- A JSONL export of Solana accounts
Steps
From the repository, set PYTHONPATH=src.
Run python -m lamportlens audit followed by the snapshot file path.
Expected outcome
A text report classifies accounts and summarizes bonds, deficits, balances, data-size bands, owners and parse errors.
Guide limitations
- The tool analyzes a provided snapshot; this command does not fetch live account data.
