Practical overview
When it fits
Use the programmatic SDK when building a TypeScript application, bot or monitoring process that needs direct wallet methods and long-running access. The repository documents a separate CLI for shell-based workflows and AI coding agents.
Who it is for
- Developers building wallet features into applications.
- Teams creating long-running bots or monitoring scripts that need programmatic wallet operations.
- Developers connecting wallet actions to AI-agent workflows.
Documented uses
- Add multi-chain address derivation, transaction signing and asset transfers to an application.
- Route cross-chain swaps and preview fees or expected swap output before signing.
- Retrieve asset balances and fiat-price information for a portfolio view.
- Expose wallet actions through a programmatic interface for an agent or bot.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and specifies the MIT license. The documented programmatic package is installed with npm or Yarn.
- Fast Vault uses server-assisted 2-of-2 MPC; Secure Vault uses multi-device N-of-M threshold signing with QR pairing and device coordination.
- The programmatic SDK is documented for apps and long-running bots, while the separate CLI targets shell scripts and AI coding-agent workflows.
- Dry-run mode previews fees and swap output before signing; the README does not describe it as transaction execution.
- The README warns that MemoryStorage is non-persistent and advises exporting vault backups.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a Fast Vault with the TypeScript SDK
Initialize the SDK, create and verify a server-assisted Fast Vault, then derive wallet addresses.
Before you start
- A TypeScript project with the @vultisig/sdk package installed.
- An email address and password for the documented Fast Vault creation flow.
Steps
Import Vultisig and Chain, create a Vultisig instance, and call initialize().
Call createFastVault() with a vault name, email and password.
Verify the returned vault ID with the email code using verifyVault().
Use vault.address() with a supported chain, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
Expected outcome
A verified Fast Vault and derived addresses for the selected chains.
Guide limitations
- The documented Fast Vault uses server-assisted 2-of-2 MPC.
- The README warns that MemoryStorage is non-persistent and says to back up vaults with vault.export().
Preview a send or swap before signing
Use the SDK's dry-run mode to preview fees and swap output before signing a send or swap.
Before you start
- An initialized SDK and an available vault.
- A send or swap operation supported by the SDK.
Steps
Prepare the send or swap using the SDK's documented wallet methods.
Enable the operation's dry-run mode.
Review the returned fee and, for a swap, the expected output before signing.
Expected outcome
A preview of fees and expected swap output before a transaction is signed.
Guide limitations
- The README describes dry-run previews for sends and swaps; it does not establish that a preview completes or broadcasts a transaction.
