Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when coding agents are running in supported multiplexer sessions and you need to monitor or respond while away from the host terminal.
Who it is for
- Developers who run coding agents in terminal multiplexer sessions and want to check or respond to them from a phone.
- Herdr users seeking a mobile interface for agent prompts and session status.
Documented uses
- See which agent sessions need input without attaching to a terminal from the phone.
- Reply to agent prompts using a mobile keyboard or send terminal keys such as Esc and Ctrl+C.
- Receive push notifications when an agent is waiting for a response.
- Inspect agent output, conversation history and read-only workspace or Git-change views.
Requirements & limits
ColliePWA is a self-hosted PWA accessed from a phone browser and added to the home screen; it is not listed in the App Store or Google Play. The README says it is served over Tailscale by default. A browser demo runs against mock data.
- Each instance connects to one multiplexer.
- Herdr is the primary supported target; tmux and zellij support is described as experimental and testing is limited.
- The documented host installer requires curl, tar and a SHA-256 utility, then prints manual configuration and startup steps.
- The project identifies its license as MIT and its stack as React Router, Vite, TypeScript, Tailwind, shadcn and a Bun bridge.
- Built-in voice input remains disabled until explicitly configured; the text field can use system voice dictation.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install ColliePWA on a host
Install the Collie files on a host and proceed to the documented first-run configuration.
Before you start
- A host with curl, tar and a SHA-256 utility.
- No compiler toolchain or sudo is required by the documented installer.
Steps
Run the published installer command on the host: curl -fsSL https://colliepwa.dev/install.sh | sh
Follow the installer's printed manual steps to seed a configuration.
Run collie start; on first run it detects Herdr, tmux and zellij and prompts for a choice.
Expected outcome
The installer places collie on the PATH, and the documented next stage is configuration followed by starting the service.
Guide limitations
- tmux and zellij support is experimental; Herdr is the primary supported target.
Compare options for AI coding assistance
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| ColliePWA | See which agent sessions need input without attaching to a terminal from the phone. | Android, iOS, Self-hosted, Web | ColliePWA is a self-hosted PWA accessed from a phone browser and added to the home screen; it is not listed in the App Store or Google Play. | Llmcode | Inspect a project's directory structure with `/tree`. | CLI | The documented setup requires an API key and supports an API base URL and model setting. The project is open source under Apache-2.0. |
| Klaat Code | Open a project directory for terminal-based coding assistance. | CLI, Server | The README provides a global npm installation command and documents browser sign-in with a KlaatAI account. It also identifies the repository as open source under Apache 2.0. |
