Nuvex

Nuvex is an Apache-2.0-licensed, Rust-based protocol repository for job-based verifiable compute and oracle workflows on Solana. Its first implemented job is verifiable randomness, fulfilled by eligible nodes using ECVRF proofs and optionally returned to programs through callbacks.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use Nuvex when evaluating or developing a Solana job-based oracle design, especially its current ECVRF randomness flow. The documented repository is not ready for mainnet deployment or transaction-submitting use.

Who it is for

  • Solana program developers assessing a verifiable-randomness design.
  • Protocol and node developers reviewing job constraints, node eligibility and proof verification.

Documented uses

  • Define a job using an input, constraints and a callback.
  • Request verifiable randomness and specify how a callback receives the output.
  • Review node fulfillment conditions: active status, minimum stake, a timely heartbeat and prior key registration.
  • Develop and inspect the protocol's Rust programs, crates, SDKs and node components.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and declares an Apache-2.0 license.

  • Proof verification uses solana-ecvrf 0.0.1; the README says no audit report was found for that crate.
  • The node process, SDK and CLI do not currently submit transactions.
  • Fees are not charged, and fee shares and selection weights remain unresolved.
  • A configured callback receives the randomness output and no accounts.
  • The repository explicitly says not to deploy this tree to mainnet.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Prepare a local environment file

Copy the example environment file before configuring a process to point at a cluster.

Before you start

  • A copy of the Nuvex repository with env/.env.local.example available.

Steps

  1. From the repository root, run cp env/.env.local.example .env.local.

  2. Set the RPC URLs, program IDs, and key paths as needed; the source identifies these as variables, not source defaults.

Expected outcome

A local `.env.local` file is copied from the example and is available for configuration.

Guide limitations

  • The source does not provide cluster-specific values or document starting a process with this file.
  • The source says not to deploy this tree to mainnet.
