Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use the MarketViewer for order-book observation, or examine the MarketBot when you need a code-based workflow for market-depth-triggered order creation and cancellation.

Who it is for

  • Developers who want to inspect Binance order-book updates from a console application.
  • Users exploring a code-based market-making tool whose order actions respond to market depth.

Documented uses

  • Watch near-real-time Binance order-book updates.
  • Create or cancel orders based on current market depth.
  • Configure API credentials for the MarketViewer or MarketBot project.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and identifies an MIT license. The documented application requirements are .NET 9.0 and a Binance account.

  • The viewer uses Binance WebSocket updates, while the market bot uses Binance REST requests.
  • The default test-order mode does not create real orders.
  • Enabling real order creation requires changing a compilation symbol.
  • API credentials are stored in project-level .env files, which the README warns not to commit or share.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Configure credentials for a Binancebot console project

Prepare the MarketBot or MarketViewer project to load Binance API credentials from a local .env file.

Before you start

  • .NET 9.0
  • A Binance account
  • Binance API key and secret

Steps

  1. Choose the MarketBot or MarketViewer console project.

  2. Copy that project's .env.example file to a .env file in the same project directory.

  3. Add the API key as BINANCE_API_KEY and the secret as BINANCE_SECRET.

  4. Keep the .env file out of version control and do not share it.

Expected outcome

The selected console application is configured to load credentials from its .env file when run.

Guide limitations

  • The repository documents credential setup but this guide does not verify a successful connection or trading action.
  • The MarketBot uses the test-order API by default; real order creation requires disabling TEST_ORDER_CREATION_MODE at compilation.
