Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a software task benefits from parallel coding-agent sessions, provider flexibility, or a visual workspace for supervising agents running on your machine or in sandboxes.
Who it is for
- Developers coordinating several coding-agent sessions.
- Users who already work with supported terminal coding CLIs and want a shared control center.
- Teams or individuals exploring local or sandboxed multi-agent coding workflows.
Documented uses
- Coordinate multiple autonomous coding-agent instances.
- Route work between agents through messaging and a shared office workspace.
- Run coding agents in parallel while monitoring their terminal sessions.
- Combine supported provider CLIs, custom commands or local-model backends in one desktop interface.
Requirements & limits
The repository describes desktop builds for macOS, Windows and Linux, with an open-source MIT-licensed codebase and published release materials. Provider subscriptions, credentials, keys or local-model services may be needed for the agents selected.
- Whether the coding CLI you need is among the documented integrations.
- Whether you want local process execution, sandboxed execution or both.
- Whether your workflow benefits from agent messaging, routing, memory and parallel sessions.
- Whether you can provide the relevant subscriptions, keys or local-model setup.
- Whether the pre-release status is acceptable for your workflow.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Prepare a source build of Munder Difflin
Install project dependencies for a contributor or an unreleased build.
Before you start
- macOS, Windows, or Linux.
- Node.js 18+ and npm.
- A C/C++ toolchain for node-pty's native addon.
- At least one supported agent CLI on PATH.
Steps
Clone the repository and change into its directory.
Run the command below; postinstall rebuilds node-pty against Electron's ABI.
npm installContinue with the repository's documented install-and-run instructions.
Expected outcome
Project dependencies are installed and node-pty is rebuilt for Electron.
Guide limitations
- The available instructions document dependency installation, but do not include the complete command or steps to launch the app.
- Optional API keys and local LLMs can be configured in Settings → AI Engines; supported examples include Ollama, LM Studio, and vLLM.
Compare options for Agent orchestration
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Munder Difflin — HarnessMD | Coordinate multiple autonomous coding-agent instances. | CLI, Desktop, Self-hosted | The repository describes desktop builds for macOS, Windows and Linux, with an open-source MIT-licensed codebase and published release materials. Provider subscriptions, credentials, keys or local-model services may be needed for the agents selected. |
| Massgen | Run multiple AI agents against the same user task. | CLI | The repository documents installation through pip or uv and requires Python 3.11 or later. Setup can configure API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI; credentials are needed for the selected model backends. |
| Langchain Multi Agents Boilerplate | Route incoming football questions to model and agent workflows according to task complexity. | Web | The repository is public and specifies an MIT license. Running the application requires OpenAI and Groq API keys and a Redis server. |
