Practical overview
When it fits
Use enowx when a coding task benefits from a terminal interface, repository-aware search and separate planning, implementation, review and testing roles.
Who it is for
- Developers working in terminal-based software workflows.
- Teams or individuals seeking a multi-agent coding process.
- Developers who want to connect coding tasks to different OpenAI-compatible model providers.
Documented uses
- Plan implementation work across a software project.
- Build or modify code with specialist-agent assistance.
- Review generated work and run documented testing stages.
- Search and navigate repository code using built-in code search.
- Connect coding workflows to different model providers.
Requirements & limits
Prebuilt binaries and installer instructions are documented for macOS, Linux and Windows, with source installation available through Rust. A provider API key and model configuration are required for the primary coding workflow.
- The tool is distributed as a single Rust binary with no separate runtime described as necessary.
- It supports multiple providers, including custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints.
- Its workflow uses specialist agents for planning, building, reviewing and testing.
- Built-in code search is included for project navigation and context retrieval.
- The project labels the release as early and expects bugs or interface changes.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install enowx and configure a model provider
Set up the enowx command-line tool and select a provider and starting model.
Before you start
- A macOS, Linux or Windows system supported by the published binaries.
- A provider API key.
- A new terminal session after installation.
Steps
Run the documented macOS or Linux installer, the Windows PowerShell installer, or install a release archive manually.
Open a new terminal after the installer updates the PATH, then run
enowx.Open the provider settings, choose a provider and enter its API key.
Set a default model or select one from the connected provider list.
Expected outcome
The enowx terminal interface opens with a connected provider and configured starting model.
Guide limitations
- The project identifies the release as early and says its interface is still moving.
- The coding workflow requires a configured provider and model.
Compare options for AI coding assistance
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| enowx | Plan implementation work across a software project. | CLI, Linux, macOS, Windows | Prebuilt binaries and installer instructions are documented for macOS, Linux and Windows, with source installation available through Rust. A provider API key and model configuration are required for the primary coding workflow. |
| Llmcode | Inspect a project's directory structure with `/tree`. | CLI | The documented setup requires an API key and supports an API base URL and model setting. The project is open source under Apache-2.0. |
| Klaat Code | Open a project directory for terminal-based coding assistance. | CLI, Server | The README provides a global npm installation command and documents browser sign-in with a KlaatAI account. It also identifies the repository as open source under Apache 2.0. |
