Practical overview
When it fits
Use The Dojo Book when entering the Dojo ecosystem or when a locally previewable documentation workspace is useful for writing and reviewing changes.
Who it is for
- Developers learning the Dojo toolchain
- Contributors editing or extending Dojo documentation
- Developers exploring autonomous-world development with Cairo- and Rust-related tooling
Documented uses
- Learn foundational Dojo concepts and development workflows
- Use the hosted documentation as a technical starting point
- Edit and preview the documentation locally
- Contribute documentation changes through the public repository
Requirements & limits
The hosted book is linked at book.dojoengine.org, and the public repository is available on GitHub. The repository identifies an MIT license. The documented local preview uses Node.js, pnpm and Vocs tooling.
- It is documentation for the Dojo toolchain rather than a standalone autonomous-world application.
- The repository provides a documented local setup based on pnpm, Node.js LTS and Vocs.
- The technical context covers Cairo, Rust and zero-knowledge topics relevant to Dojo development.
- The repository notes that migration from rustbook to Vocs is in process.
- Adding a searchable indexing layer is Likely compatible, but no specific implementation is documented.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a local preview of The Dojo Book
Install the documented dependencies and open a local preview of the Vocs-based documentation site.
Before you start
- A computer with a web browser
- nvm for selecting the Node.js LTS release
- Permission to install global pnpm and project dependencies
Steps
Install pnpm globally with npm.
Install and select the Node.js LTS release with nvm.
Run pnpm install in the repository.
Run pnpm run dev and visit http://localhost:5173/ in a browser.
Expected outcome
A local browser preview of The Dojo Book at the documented address.
Guide limitations
- This workflow documents local setup and preview, not deployment of a Dojo application.
- The repository notes that migration from rustbook to Vocs is in process.
