Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Go application needs direct Stellar transaction-building, network API clients, ledger-data ingestion or reusable data-processing components.
Who it is for
- Go developers building Stellar-integrated applications.
- Teams creating transaction-processing backends or self-hosted services.
- Developers building ledger-ingestion and ETL pipelines for Stellar data.
Documented uses
- Construct Stellar transactions and operations.
- Query or submit transactions through Horizon or Stellar RPC.
- Parse raw ledger data from Captive Core, Galexie Data Lake or RPC.
- Process Stellar data with reusable abstractions and ETL-style processors.
- Use Stellar network primitives and encoding helpers in Go applications.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public, active and licensed under Apache-2.0. The documented installation method uses Go modules and the repository package path.
- Choose the transaction builder when the application must create Stellar transactions and operations.
- Use the Horizon client or RPC client according to the Stellar service the application needs to query or submit through; endpoint and authentication configuration are not specified here.
- Choose the Ingest SDK when raw ledger data comes from Captive Core, Galexie Data Lake or RPC.
- Use the processors library for reusable data abstractions and ETL-style processing.
- Horizon, Galexie and Friendbot services are maintained in separate repositories, so this SDK is not their server or exporter implementation.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Add Go Stellar SDK to a Go project
Add the SDK dependency to an existing Go project.
Before you start
- An existing Go project.
- Go module support.
Steps
Run the command below inside the Go project.
go get github.com/stellar/go-stellar-sdk@latestImport the package or packages needed for transaction building, Horizon, RPC, ingestion, processors, XDR or StrKey work.
Expected outcome
The SDK is added as a dependency and its documented packages are available for application development.
Guide limitations
- This setup procedure does not document endpoint configuration, authentication, deployment or a successful transaction submission.
- The README states that packages are tested against the two most recent major Go versions, but does not specify other compatibility details.
