Practical overview
When it fits
Use Distilly when you have a person or set of source materials to turn into a reusable profile for an agent workflow, rather than seeking a hosted agent service.
Who it is for
- People preserving a colleague’s work practices or team knowledge in a reusable agent skill.
- Builders creating colleague, relationship or celebrity profiles from descriptions and source material.
- Developers using compatible agent hosts that can discover and invoke local Skills.
Documented uses
- Turn messages, documents, interviews or public sources into a reusable Person Profile.
- Organize observable work methods, expression and decision patterns for an agent.
- Package a generated profile as an Agent Skill for use in a compatible host.
Requirements & limits
The project is open source under the MIT license. The README specifies Python 3.9 or later.
- The basic workflow allows a description or source material and makes each input field optional.
- The output is an Agent Skill, so a compatible agent environment is needed to reuse it.
- The project documents native local Skill discovery across Claude Code, Hermes, OpenClaw, Codex, DeepSeek Harness, Pi, Grok Build and OpenCode.
- Advanced celebrity research tools are covered by a separate install guide.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Create a Person Profile with Distilly
Generate a reusable Agent Skill from a person description or source material.
Before you start
- Distilly available in a compatible agent workflow.
- A person to profile and an optional description or source material.
Steps
Ask the agent to use Distilly to create a Person Profile for the person.
Choose colleague, relationship or celebrity.
Provide a description or source material; the documented workflow says every field is optional.
Review the result and have Distilly generate the profile.
Expected outcome
A Person Profile packaged as an Agent Skill named for the character.
Guide limitations
- The basic workflow does not detail advanced celebrity research setup; the project points to a separate install guide for that pipeline and its tools.
- A specific agent-host integration is not demonstrated by this basic workflow.
