Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you want locally worked Solidity and EVM security puzzles with Foundry tests, rather than a hosted challenge interface.
Who it is for
- Solidity developers seeking hands-on EVM security exercises
- Learners who want to study challenge code alongside solutions and write-ups
- Educators or exercise authors looking for examples of EVM CTF material
Documented uses
- Work through individual smart-contract security puzzles using Foundry tests.
- Read challenge solutions and linked write-ups to study puzzle approaches.
- Use a collection of EVM challenges as source material for training exercises.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and lists an MIT license. The documented workflow uses a local Foundry environment.
- The documented workflow requires Rust, svm-rs, a selected Solidity compiler and Foundry.
- The README demonstrates solc 0.4.26 and includes compiler-version badges, making compiler version management relevant.
- Challenge examples and write-ups are organized in the repository by challenge collection and topic.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Run a test for one challenge with Foundry
Run the documented Foundry test command for a single example challenge.
Before you start
- Rust and svm-rs installed
- A Solidity compiler version selected with svm
- Foundry configured
- The WTF-CTF repository cloned locally
Steps
Change into the WTF-CTF repository directory.
Run
forge test -C ./src/Capture_the_Ether/Warmup/Deploy_a_contract -vvv.
Expected outcome
Foundry runs the tests in the specified Deploy a contract challenge directory with verbose output.
Guide limitations
- The README shows this command as an example for one challenge; it does not establish that the command has been independently run.
- Compiler requirements may vary across repository challenges.
