Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when developing or operating Witnet oracle integrations on an EVM-compatible network, especially when you need to inspect available feeds, consume oracle data, or connect a local gateway to a supported chain.
Who it is for
- Solidity developers building contracts that consume Witnet price feeds or randomness.
- JavaScript developers using ethers providers and Witnet wrappers.
- Operators inspecting framework contracts or starting a local signing gateway for a supported chain.
Documented uses
- Discover subsidized feeds and inspect their identifiers, freshness, and providers.
- Read oracle prices through Witnet-native or documented compatibility interfaces.
- Browse randomness requests and inspect oracle queries, reports, and Radon assets.
- Connect a local signing gateway to a listed chain and inspect its framework contracts.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and licensed under MIT. The documented operator setup uses pnpm; Solidity package and JavaScript wrapper examples use npm.
- Check
npx witeth networksto identify chains listed as supported. - Native feed reads include freshness-aware methods; the documented ERC-2362-style path instead reports health through status codes.
- JavaScript wrapper examples require an ethers JSON-RPC provider.
- Deployment and upgrade execution is left to the operator’s internal automation and approved processes.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up an operator gateway and inspect contracts
Install the project dependencies, select a listed chain, start its local signing gateway, and inspect framework contracts.
Before you start
- A local environment with pnpm and access to the repository
- A target ecosystem:chain identifier shown by the network listing
Steps
Run
pnpm install.Run the command below to list supported chains.
npx witeth networksRun the command below for the target network.
npx witeth gatewayIn another terminal, run the command below.
npx witeth framework --verbose
Expected outcome
A local signing gateway is started for the selected chain, and the framework contracts can be inspected with verbose output.
Guide limitations
- The guide documents gateway startup and contract inspection, not deployment or upgrade execution.
- Deployments and upgrades use the operator’s internal automation or playbook.
Install the Solidity package and browse oracle resources
Install the Solidity package and use the documented CLI commands to inspect feeds, randomness requests, queries, reports, and Radon assets.
Before you start
- A local environment with npm and the project CLI available
Steps
Run the command below.
npm install @witnet/solidityRun the command below and the command below.
npx witeth priceFeedsnpx witeth randomnessInspect queries with the command below and parsed reports with the command below.
npx witeth queries --limit 20npx witeth reports --limit 20 --parseDecode assets with the command below, or dry-run a named asset with the command below.
npx witeth assets --all --decodenpx witeth assets --dry-run
Expected outcome
The documented commands provide listings and inspection output for oracle feeds, randomness requests, queries, reports, and Radon assets.
Guide limitations
- These steps document package installation and CLI inspection; they do not deploy a contract or execute an application integration.
