Practical overview
When it fits
Use Whook when you want TradingView alerts to drive market or limit orders on a supported perpetual-futures account and can configure exchange API credentials and the alert syntax.
Who it is for
- TradingView strategy users who want alerts to place or adjust futures positions on an exchange.
- People configuring API credentials and alert messages for supported exchange accounts.
Documented uses
- Route a TradingView alert to a futures buy, sell or target position-size order.
- Open or adjust a position, close it fully or by percentage, and change leverage.
- Place limit orders with custom IDs and cancel an identified order or all orders for a symbol.
- Express order size as base currency, USDT, contracts or a percentage of the USDT balance.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and licensed under MIT. The README says users can download main.py without cloning the repository and describes API credentials configured in accounts.json.
- Whook supports market and limit orders; take-profit and stop-loss orders are not supported.
- It uses one-way position mode; hedge mode is unsupported.
- The README lists KuCoin Futures, Bitget, CoinEx, BingX, OKX, Bybit, Binance Futures, Phemex and Kraken Futures; the maintainer cautions that OKX and Binance support may be outdated and is not guaranteed.
- The project retries rejected orders for up to 40 seconds, may reduce order size when funds are insufficient, and can split position reversals.
- Alert messages require an account ID and supported command syntax; limit orders need unique custom IDs.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up exchange account configuration
Create Whook's account configuration file and enter credentials for an exchange account.
Before you start
- The Whook main.py script.
- An exchange API key and secret key.
- An API password for KuCoin or Bitget; other exchanges may or may not require one.
Steps
Launch the script once; it creates an accounts.json template and exits with a no-accounts-found error.
Fill in the account ID, exchange name, API key and secret key in accounts.json.
Set the margin mode to isolated or cross; isolated is the default. Add a password where the exchange requires one.
Expected outcome
An accounts.json file contains the account details Whook uses to identify the alert target and connect to the exchange.
Guide limitations
- The setup instructions do not establish the subsequent launch or webhook-hosting procedure.
- Only one settlement coin can be used per account; separate accounts are needed for different settlement coins.
- The README warns that OKX and Binance support may be out of date and is not guaranteed.
