Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you want to try the repository's local Docker workflow on an image and can obtain the model directory separately.
Who it is for
- Developers who want a documented Docker-based workflow for watermark removal.
- Users comfortable supplying image paths, a model checkpoint and container-mounted folders.
Documented uses
- Process an image by attempting to reconstruct the region covered by a watermark.
- Build and run the documented image-processing workflow in a Docker container.
Requirements & limits
- The Docker workflow requires a separate model-directory download.
- The README marks its Google Colab instructions as broken.
- The project identifies TensorFlow 1.15.0; the Colab instructions specifically discuss downgrading from TensorFlow 2.x and installing neuralgym.
- Inpainting reconstructs obscured content, so output fidelity is not assured by the repository's stated goal.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Run watermark removal with Docker
Build the repository's Docker image and use its documented command structure to process an image.
Before you start
- Docker
- A local clone of the repository
- The model directory downloaded from the link in the README
- An input image and paths for the input and output folders
Steps
Clone the repository and build its Docker image from the repository root with the command below.
docker build -t watermark-removal .Download the model directory using the link provided in the README.
Run the container with the model, input and output folders mounted, specifying the checkpoint directory, input image, output path and watermark type as shown in the README.
Expected outcome
The documented command is intended to write a processed image to the specified output path.
Guide limitations
- The model directory is downloaded separately from the repository.
- The README documents
istockas the watermark-type example; it does not establish support for other watermark types. - The repository does not promise that every reconstruction will match the original image.
