Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use Ucai when you have a smart contract interface to expose and want an MCP server for an AI client, with a documented CLI setup for Claude Desktop or a browser-based builder.

Who it is for

  • Developers exposing smart-contract functions to MCP-compatible AI clients.
  • Web3 developers who want to connect contract interfaces to tools such as Claude Desktop.

Documented uses

  • Generate an MCP server from a contract address or ABI.
  • Make contract functions and queries available through an AI client’s tool interface.
  • Configure a generated server for use with Claude Desktop.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • The repository documents both a Python CLI and a separate browser builder.
  • The CLI workflow requires a contract address, generated-project dependencies and an RPC URL for the illustrated Claude Desktop setup.
  • The README indicates Python 3.10 or later.
  • The examples focus on contract queries and functions, including Uniswap swaps, reserves and recent swaps.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Generate and connect a contract server to Claude Desktop

Create an MCP server from a contract address and add it to Claude Desktop’s MCP configuration.

Before you start

  • Python 3.10 or later is indicated by the repository.
  • The abi-to-mcp package.
  • A contract address and an RPC URL.
  • Claude Desktop.

Steps

  1. Install the package with the command below.

    Documented command
    pip install abi-to-mcp
  2. Generate a server with abi-to-mcp generate -o .

  3. Install the generated server’s dependencies with the command below from its output directory.

    Documented command
    pip install -r requirements.txt
  4. Add the server script, Python command and RPC_URL value to Claude Desktop’s mcpServers configuration.

Expected outcome

The generated server is listed in Claude Desktop’s MCP configuration, allowing the client to access the contract interface.

Guide limitations

  • The example uses a contract address and RPC URL; configuration details may depend on the contract and environment.
