Tezos Reward Distributor

Tezos Reward Distributor (TRD) is an open-source Python application that calculates and distributes staking rewards to Tezos delegators. It can track cycles, make batch payments and run interactively or continuously as a Linux service.

Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use TRD when managing Tezos delegator reward payouts and you can configure its payout settings and choose a supported source for income and delegator data.

Who it is for

  • Tezos bakers who need to calculate and distribute rewards to delegators.
  • Bakers who want to run reward distribution interactively or automate recurring work through a Linux service.

Documented uses

  • Use baking-cycle and delegator data to calculate reward payments.
  • Distribute rewards in batches.
  • Preview a payout run in dry-run mode before making actual payments.
  • Run reward distribution interactively or as a background service.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • The setup instructions target Linux and require Python 3.
  • TzKT is the default calculation provider; using local RPC requires an archive node.
  • The README advises dry-running before actual payments and exercising care because the software is provided as-is and under continued development.
  • The project says it collects anonymous statistics and links to a statistics policy.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Run TRD in Docker with an existing configuration

Start TRD in Docker using an existing configuration directory and host-network access to signer and node endpoints.

Before you start

  • Docker.
  • A pre-existing TRD configuration file in the pymnt/cfg folder under the mounted pymnt directory.
  • Signer and node endpoints accessible on the host network.

Steps

  1. Prepare the configuration outside Docker; the Docker instructions recommend running configure.py outside the container and placing the resulting YAML file in pymnt/cfg.

  2. From the project directory, build the image with the command below, or obtain the official image with the command below.

    Documented command
    docker build -t trdo/tezos-reward-distributor .
    Documented command
    docker pull trdo/tezos-reward-distributor
  3. Run the container with the command below, replacing `` with the other arguments normally passed to TRD.

    Documented command
    docker run --network=host -v $(pwd)/pymnt:/app/pymnt:z trdo/tezos-reward-distributor --base_directory /app/pymnt

Expected outcome

The container starts TRD with the mounted `pymnt` directory and the supplied program arguments.

Guide limitations

  • The instructions assume signer and node endpoint access in the host network.
  • For a microservice environment, omit --network=host and specify the signer service with --signer_endpoint and the Tezos node service with --node_endpoint.
  • The README warns that actual payments should follow a dry-mode pre-run.
