Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when building Solana operations into an iOS or macOS app in Swift, especially when wallet management, balances, transfers or signing need to be exposed through an app interface.
Who it is for
- iOS developers adding Solana wallet and transaction functions to an app.
- macOS developers displaying SOL or SPL balances or building Solana transfer flows.
- Apple-platform teams integrating message signing or multisig interactions.
Documented uses
- Create a Solana wallet or import an account from a BIP39 mnemonic or base58 private key.
- Query SOL and SPL token balances and retrieve token accounts for an owner.
- Estimate transfer costs and send SOL or SPL tokens.
- Add message-signing and multisig flows to an app.
Requirements & limits
The public GitHub repository is licensed under MIT and documents installation through Swift Package Manager.
- The SDK relies on an internal WebView and JavaScript bridge; call setup and wait for bridge readiness before other APIs.
- Balance and transfer methods accept an RPC endpoint, so the app must select and configure its network connection.
- SOL transfer amounts use lamports; SPL transfer amounts use the token's smallest unit and its decimals.
- The README reports slow SPL transfers on one public RPC node and suggests considering a dedicated provider for production.
- Methods return optional dictionaries with method-specific success keys and an error key for failures.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Add SolanaWeb to an Apple-platform app
Install the Swift package and initialize its WebKit-based JavaScript bridge before calling SDK methods.
Before you start
- An iOS or macOS app project using Swift Package Manager or Xcode.
- Add the SolanaWeb target to the app target.
Steps
Add the GitHub package at https://github.com/Elizabet1926/Solana.git, using the documented up-to-next-major version from 1.1.0.
Import SolanaWeb and create a SolanaWeb instance.
Call setup(showLog:onCompleted:) and wait for its completion callback to indicate that the bridge is ready before using other APIs.
Expected outcome
The app has initialized the bridge and can proceed to call the SDK's wallet, balance or transfer methods.
Guide limitations
- The setup instructions cover package integration and bridge readiness, not a complete app feature implementation.
- The documented API returns optional dictionaries; check for an error key when handling results.
