- Teams sharing reusable skills across departments or projects
- Administrators who need namespace roles, review controls and governance records
- Developers integrating skill distribution through REST APIs, CLI workflows or Python examples
Documented uses
- Publish reusable agent skill packages
- Discover skills through search and filters
- Version packages and mark release stages with tags
- Control access and publishing within team or global namespaces
- Distribute approved skills through CLI and API-based workflows
Requirements & limits
The project is publicly available as open-source software under the Apache-2.0 license. The repository documents Docker and Kubernetes deployment options and provides a local quick-start path.
- Self-hosting keeps the registry on organizational infrastructure.
- Namespace roles include Owner, Admin and Member, with publishing policies and review workflows.
- Semantic versioning, custom tags and latest-version tracking support controlled package releases.
- Scoped API tokens support CLI and programmatic access.
- Storage can use a local filesystem for development or S3 and MinIO for production configurations.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up the local Skillhub stack
Start the documented local Skillhub stack using the project’s quick-start runtime script.
Before you start
- A Linux environment with access to the Skillhub repository’s documented runtime script.
- The repository’s quick-start command and access to its release images.
Steps
Remove the existing /tmp/skillhub-runtime directory.
Fetch the runtime script from the URL shown in the repository quick start.
Run the script with the up argument to start the full local stack using the latest stable release images by default.
Expected outcome
The local Skillhub stack is started according to the repository quick-start procedure.
Guide limitations
- This procedure documents local stack startup only; it does not establish production readiness or verify a particular deployment environment.
