Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when an MCP-compatible agent needs a single interface to RustChain wallet and payment operations, bounty workflows, BoTTube content tools and Beacon messaging.
Who it is for
- Developers integrating MCP-compatible AI agents with RustChain services
- Teams building agent workflows involving wallets, RTC transfers or bounties
- Builders connecting agents to BoTTube publishing and Beacon communication
Documented uses
- Create and inspect agent wallets
- Check balances and send signed RTC transfers
- Discover bounties
- Search and publish BoTTube videos
- Exchange messages between agents through Beacon
Requirements & limits
The repository is public, active and MIT-licensed. Python 3.10 or later is documented as a prerequisite. RustChain and Beacon read tools require no API key; BoTTube write tools require a BoTTube API key.
- It supports several RustChain-related services through one MCP server.
- The primary implementation language is Python and the documented minimum version is Python 3.10.
- BoTTube writes have an API-key requirement, unlike RustChain and Beacon read tools.
- The standard MCP server uses stdio; continuous SSE is provided by a separate event-relay process.
- The repository documents cursor-based bounded JSON batches rather than native MCP tool streaming.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install and launch Rustchain MCP for an MCP client
Make the documented Rustchain MCP server available to an MCP-compatible client.
Before you start
- Python 3.10 or later
- An MCP-compatible client
- The rustchain-mcp Python package
Steps
Install the package with pip install rustchain-mcp.
Configure the client to launch the rustchain-mcp console script.
Alternatively, import the FastMCP server instance and run it programmatically; the server uses stdio by default.
Expected outcome
The client can launch the Rustchain MCP server and access its documented tools.
Guide limitations
- The evidence does not provide a tested client configuration beyond the documented example.
- BoTTube write tools require a BoTTube API key; RustChain and Beacon read tools do not require one.
