Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Consider Render Network when a creative workload needs GPU rendering capacity and distributed rendering is relevant to the project.

Who it is for

  • 3D artists and creators who need GPU rendering capacity.
  • Creative teams working on motion graphics, design, architectural visualization or visual effects.

Documented uses

  • Render 3D scenes using distributed GPU capacity.
  • Seek GPU-backed capacity for compute-intensive creative work.

Requirements & limits

  • The project is described as decentralized compute infrastructure, not as a 3D authoring application.
  • The official About page characterizes the protocol as open-source.
  • The available project information does not specify technical access methods or integrations.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Prepare, submit, and retrieve a render job

Render a 3D scene through the Render Network web portal using an ORBX file.

Before you start

  • A scene file prepared and optimized for rendering.
  • OctaneRender Standalone or a supported plugin to export the scene as ORBX.
  • Access to the Render Network web portal.

Steps

  1. Export the scene as an ORBX file, then verify it in OctaneRender Standalone for missing pieces.

  2. In the web portal, open Scenes and upload the ORBX file.

  3. Select the uploaded scene and choose “New Job.” Set render parameters and choose Priority (Tier 2) or Economy (Tier 3); use the cost estimator and top up your balance if needed.

  4. Submit the job and track progress in the portal. Review the watermarked previews, approve or reject them, then download the full-resolution versions after approval.

Expected outcome

The job is submitted for rendering, and approved frames can be downloaded in full resolution without watermarks.

Guide limitations

  • The documented workflow requires an ORBX export and verification step.
  • Rejected frames are re-rendered automatically.
  • The source does not specify account eligibility or supported hardware.
