Set up Rainbow for external development
Prepare the documented project dependencies and platform configuration for an external contributor build.
Before you start
- A checkout of the public Rainbow repository
- mise, Yarn through Corepack, and the required platform development tools
- Personal API keys for the listed providers
- A personal Firebase project and Android google-services.json for Android builds
Steps
Copy .env.example to .env and fill in the required API keys.
For Android, provide google-services.json from a Firebase project registered under the package name me.rainbow.
Install the project dependencies and run the setup command with yarn install && yarn setup.
For iOS, install the pinned Xcode version, Watchman, bundles and Pods; for Android, configure JDK 17, Android Studio and the documented Android environment.
