Practical overview
When it fits
Use it for demonstration or technical study of image crawling and Bitcoin QR-code detection, rather than as a wallet-management tool.
Who it is for
- Developers studying a Python image-crawling and QR-scanning pipeline.
- People using a demonstration workflow to examine how QR codes can encode Bitcoin wallet private keys.
Documented uses
- Search for images using supplied keywords through the project’s crawler workflow.
- Scan downloaded images for QR codes and identify those containing Bitcoin wallet private keys.
- Produce a deduplicated key list and display associated wallet balances.
Requirements & limits
The project is a public GitHub repository licensed under MIT. The README gives Linux package and pip setup instructions.
- The complete shell-script workflow searches Google, Bing and Baidu for images using supplied terms.
- The tool downloads images, scans them for private-key QR codes, deduplicates extracted keys and prints associated wallet balances.
- Setup requires the listed system packages and Python dependencies.
- The README says this is for demonstration, warns that wallets with remaining bitcoin are unlikely to be found, and directs users to leave any discovered private keys untouched.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Install the Python dependencies with pip3 install -r requirements.txt.
Expected outcome
The operating-system and Python dependencies listed by the project are installed; the README does not document further environment validation.
Guide limitations
- These are setup steps only; they do not verify that the tool runs in a particular environment.
