Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Python application already works with Qdrant and its payload-filter logic would benefit from SQL-like WHERE expressions.
Who it is for
- Python developers building applications with Qdrant.
- Teams that want to express Qdrant payload filters with SQL-like conditions.
Documented uses
- Translate comparisons, range checks, membership tests and logical expressions into Qdrant filters.
- Build filters for nested payload fields and array fields.
- Use generated filters in Qdrant client queries.
Requirements & limits
The README specifies Python 3.9 or later, installation from PyPI, and an MIT license.
- Its documented scope is filter conversion, not a complete SQL interface for vector search, aggregation and other Qdrant operations.
- The generated filters are intended for use with the Qdrant client.
- The README lists operators including LIKE, null and empty checks, COUNT(), and ID filtering; confirm the documented examples for the specific expressions your application needs.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the library and prepare a Qdrant filter
Add Qdrant VSQL to a Python project and translate a SQL-like WHERE expression into a Qdrant filter object.
Before you start
- Python 3.9 or later
- A Python project using Qdrant
Steps
Install the package with the command below.
pip install qdrant-vsqlImport
where2filterfromqdrant_vsql.filtering.Pass a SQL-like WHERE expression, such as
city = 'London' AND age > 30, towhere2filter.
Expected outcome
A Qdrant Filter object that can be supplied as a filter in a Qdrant client query.
Guide limitations
- The documented current function is filtering; the library is not described as a complete SQL interface for all Qdrant operations.
