Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you need inspectable, self-hosted automation for token launches on pump.fun or letsbonk.fun and can provide the required Solana infrastructure and credentials.
Who it is for
- Developers building or adapting Solana trading automation
- Technically capable users who can configure RPC connections, wallets, and YAML bot files
- Users focused on pump.fun or letsbonk.fun token launches
Documented uses
- Monitor token creation events
- Submit configured automated buys
- Apply time-based, take-profit/stop-loss, or manual exits
- Run individual token-launch trading actions from standalone scripts
- Tune listeners, filters, retries, fees, cleanup, and request limits
Requirements & limits
The project is a public GitHub repository, is open source under Apache-2.0, and does not rely on third-party APIs according to its description. The documented setup requires local installation and trading-wallet credentials.
- Listener support differs by platform: letsbonk.fun supports blocks and Geyser, while pump.fun supports all four documented listener types.
- The project requires Python 3.11 or newer and non-public RPC infrastructure for the documented workload.
- Extreme fast mode can submit a buy sooner, but sacrifices knowledge of the price paid per token.
- The README identifies the code as learning-oriented rather than production-ready.
- The repository includes both a multi-bot runner and standalone action scripts.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a configured Solana trading bot
Install the project, provide required connection credentials, select a compatible bot configuration, and start it.
Before you start
- Python 3.11 or newer
- The uv package manager
- An HTTPS RPC endpoint and WebSocket endpoint
- A Base58 private key for the trading wallet
- Additional Geyser credentials when using the geyser or shreds listeners
Steps
Clone the repository, enter its directory, run uv sync, activate the virtual environment, and install the package in editable mode.
Copy .env.example to .env and fill in the documented Solana endpoint, WebSocket, wallet, and applicable Geyser settings.
Choose a YAML file in bots/ and set the platform to pump_fun or lets_bonk; ensure the listener is supported by that platform.
Set enabled to true for the bot instances to start, then run pump_bot or uv run src/bot_runner.py.
Expected outcome
The selected enabled bot starts and writes logs to logs/{bot_name}_{timestamp}.log.
Guide limitations
- Public RPC nodes will not work for this workload.
- letsbonk.fun does not support the logs or shreds listeners.
- The README says the code is for learning purposes and is not for production use.
