Proxy Model.py

Proxy Model.py is a Python prototype that provides a local proxy for connecting MetaMask to Neon EVM functionality associated with Solana. Its repository also contains an indexer and a gas-tank service that analyzes configured Neon EVM transfers and can provide gas-less transactions.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use the proxy instructions when setting up a local prototype connection from MetaMask to Neon EVM. Consider the separate gas-tank configuration when building transfer-triggered sponsorship around supported, allowlisted bridge tokens.

Who it is for

  • Developers exploring MetaMask connectivity to Neon EVM through Solana.
  • Teams working with Neon EVM transaction indexing or transfer-triggered gas sponsorship.

Documented uses

  • Expose a local Solana endpoint for MetaMask.
  • Index Neon EVM transaction and token-transfer activity.
  • Analyze configured bridge transfers to trigger gas-less transaction handling.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • The documented proxy uses a local endpoint at http://localhost:9090/solana.
  • Gas-tank analysis depends on configured contract addresses and token allowlists; both are required for each documented bridge type to be analyzed.
  • The README identifies Ubuntu 18.04 prerequisites and Python-based setup.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up the local MetaMask proxy

Start the documented local proxy and add its endpoint as a MetaMask network.

Before you start

  • Ubuntu 18.04
  • Python 3, python3-venv, python3-dev and GCC
  • The repository's requirements.txt

Steps

  1. Create and activate a Python virtual environment with the documented commands.

  2. Install dependencies with pip install -r requirements.txt.

  3. Start the proxy on 127.0.0.1:9090 with the NeonRpcApiPlugin and web server enabled.

  4. Add http://localhost:9090/solana as a network in MetaMask.

Expected outcome

MetaMask is configured to connect through the locally running proxy endpoint.

Guide limitations

  • The instructions describe a local prototype setup, not a hosted or production deployment.
