Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Go application needs read-only Polymarket market information through Gamma, especially for research, market browsing or analytics workflows.
Who it is for
- Go developers building prediction-market research tools.
- Teams creating alternative interfaces for browsing Polymarket markets.
- Developers ingesting indexed market information into analytics or automated systems.
Documented uses
- List and filter markets, events and series, or retrieve individual records by ID or slug.
- Search markets, events and profiles.
- Retrieve sports metadata, team data, tags and related-tag details.
- Use price, volume, liquidity and market metadata in research or analytics.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and specifies the MIT license. Go 1.24 or later is required.
- The SDK reads Gamma’s hosted, indexed data and metadata; it does not place trades.
- The README says market-resolution data is available on-chain as well, while this client is scoped to Gamma’s REST API.
- The README recommends respecting API rate limits.
- Examples demonstrate opportunity-analysis strategies, but a data client and sample analysis are not trade execution.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the Go module and prepare a Gamma client
Add the SDK to a Go project and construct the client shown in its README.
Before you start
- Go 1.24 or later
- A Go project that can add the module dependency
Steps
From the project, add github.com/ivanzzeth/polymarket-go-gamma-client with Go’s module installation command.
Import the package in Go code.
Create a client using polymarketgamma.NewClient(http.DefaultClient).
Expected outcome
The project has the SDK dependency and a Gamma client instance ready for the documented API calls.
Guide limitations
- This guide covers installation and client construction only; it does not establish a successful API request.
- The client accesses Gamma’s read-only public market-data resource. Respect the API’s rate limits.
