Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when pi coding work spans multiple sessions or needs browser-based supervision, terminal access, diff inspection or documented remote control.
Who it is for
- Developers running pi coding agents.
- CLI users who want a browser view of active pi sessions.
- Teams or individuals supervising parallel coding-agent work through chat, terminal and diff views.
Documented uses
- View multiple pi coding-agent sessions in one interface.
- Mirror live agent chat while work is in progress.
- Inspect code changes through a diff viewer.
- Access an integrated terminal alongside agent sessions.
- Control pi sessions remotely through mDNS or a zrok tunnel.
Requirements & limits
The project is open source under the MIT license. Documented access paths include Electron installers, npm installation and a pi bridge extension. The repository describes a local dashboard at http://localhost:8000 for the npm and bridge flows.
- Compatibility is specific to pi; the repository states that Oh My Pi is not supported.
- The documented connection options for remote control are mDNS and zrok tunnels.
- The standalone desktop mode bundles Node.js and installs pi, the dashboard and openspec.
- The CLI route requires the documented npm and Node.js/build-tool environment unless using the standalone desktop mode.
- The tool complements pi’s terminal interface rather than replacing it.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the dashboard through npm and open the local web interface
Set up PI Dashboard for a pi workflow and open its local browser dashboard.
Before you start
- npm and Node.js/build tools as required by the CLI installation path.
- The pi coding-agent environment, unless using the package flow that installs pi as a dependency.
Steps
Run the command below.
npm install -g @blackbelt-technology/pi-agent-dashboardRun
pi-dashboard.Open
http://localhost:8000in a browser.Alternatively, install the bridge with
pi install npm:@blackbelt-technology/pi-agent-dashboardand startpi; the bridge extension starts the dashboard server on first launch.
Expected outcome
A local PI Dashboard interface where active pi sessions appear automatically.
Guide limitations
- The dashboard only works with pi; Oh My Pi is not supported.
- The supplied instructions do not establish successful execution on a particular machine.
Install the standalone Electron desktop application
Set up PI Dashboard without a terminal, npm or a separately installed Node.js runtime.
Before you start
- A compatible installer from GitHub Releases.
- macOS users need macOS 12 or newer for the current installer; Apple Silicon and Intel builds are documented separately.
Steps
Download the installer for the relevant platform from GitHub Releases.
Launch the application and follow the setup wizard.
Choose standalone or power-user mode and complete the documented API-key or OAuth setup.
On macOS, use the documented first-run unblocking procedure if the unsigned application is blocked.
Expected outcome
A desktop installation whose standalone mode bundles Node.js and installs pi, the dashboard and openspec into `~/.pi-dashboard/`.
Guide limitations
- The supplied instructions state that macOS DMGs are not yet notarized.
- Windows SmartScreen or macOS launch protections may require the documented first-run action.
