Source-based practical guide

Install and configure the plugin

Set up Opik trace export for an OpenClaw Gateway and check its effective configuration.

Before you start

  • OpenClaw 2026.9.7 or later; the README specifies plugin version 0.2.17 for older OpenClaw versions.
  • Node.js 24.16 or later and npm 10 or later.
  • Opik endpoint and credentials. For Opik Cloud, the configuration wizard directs users without an account to signup before asking for an API key.

Steps

  1. Install the plugin with openclaw plugins install clawhub:@opik/opik-openclaw.

  2. Restart the Gateway if it was already running.

  3. Run openclaw opik configure and complete the endpoint and credential setup.

  4. Run openclaw opik status to check the effective settings.

Expected outcome

The plugin is installed and configured with its effective Opik settings available for review.

Guide limitations

  • For a remote Gateway, install and configure the plugin on the host running that Gateway.
  • Non-bundled installs need explicit conversation-hook access because the plugin traces prompts, responses, tool activity and agent finalization events.
