Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when developing Solidity contracts that need to perform confidential transactions through Zama’s fhEVM coprocessor.
Who it is for
- Solidity developers building contracts for Zama fhEVM.
- Teams creating confidential token contracts based on ERC7984.
Documented uses
- Install the library in a Hardhat project with npm.
- Import ERC7984 as a base for a token contract.
- Configure a confidentiality-enabled contract to use the fhEVM coprocessor.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and licensed under MIT by default where a contract file does not specify another license.
- The library is explicitly described as experimental.
- Confidentiality-enabled contracts require coprocessor configuration, with
ZamaEthereumConfiggiven as an example. - The README warns that some functions may not revert on failure in the way conventional contracts do.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the library and import ERC7984 in a Hardhat project
Add the confidential-contracts package and reference its ERC7984 contract in Solidity.
Before you start
- A Hardhat project using npm.
- Solidity ^0.8.27, as shown in the README example.
Steps
Install the package with the command below.
npm install @openzeppelin/confidential-contractsImport
ERC7984from@openzeppelin/confidential-contracts/token/ERC7984/ERC7984.solin a Solidity file.
Expected outcome
The package is installed and the ERC7984 contract is available to reference in the project.
Guide limitations
- This covers package installation and importing only, not deployment or transaction execution.
- Confidentiality-enabled contracts must also set coprocessor configuration, for example by inheriting
ZamaEthereumConfig. - The library is described as experimental; its README warns that some functions may not revert on failure as conventional contracts do.
