Requirements & limits

The project README describes a hosted browser interface and a separate download route. Local development instructions require exchange API keys in the API project's keys.js file.

  • The UI is not standalone; the documentation requires a separate API and engine.
  • The README documents Node.js 8.9.0 or later, npm and Git for setup, with Vue.js 2.5.13 or later for the full local setup.
  • The repository is public and licensed under AGPL-3.0.
  • The README describes production setup as coming soon.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Run the API and UI locally for development

Start the API server and serve the UI locally for development use.

Before you start

  • Node.js 8.9.0 or later
  • NPM
  • Git
  • Vue.js 2.5.13 or later
  • Exchange API keys

Steps

    Documented command
    git clone https://github.com/blocknomic-technologies/open-trading-platform-API.git
    Documented command
    npm install
  2. Edit keys.js in the API repository root and enter your exchange API keys, then start the server with the command below.

    Documented command
    node debug.js
  3. In a separate terminal, clone the UI repository, enter its directory, install dependencies, and start the development server: the command below, cd open-trading-platform-UI, the command below, then the command below.

    Documented command
    git clone https://github.com/blocknomic-technologies/open-trading-platform-UI.git
    Documented command
    npm install
    Documented command
    npm run serve
  4. Open the localhost URL printed in the terminal.

Expected outcome

The UI is served locally and can connect to the running API server for platform use.

Guide limitations

  • The UI requires the API and ENGINE to operate properly; the documented steps start the API and UI but do not provide steps for running the ENGINE.
  • Production environment instructions are listed as coming soon.
  • The README says later Vue.js versions have not been tested.
Source-based practical guide

Connect the hosted UI to a locally running API

Run the API server locally and access it through the hosted browser interface.

Before you start

  • Node.js 8.9.0 or later
  • NPM
  • Git
  • Exchange API keys

Steps

  1. Clone the API repository, enter its directory, and install dependencies: the command below, cd open-trading-platform-API, then the command below.

    Documented command
    git clone https://github.com/blocknomic-technologies/open-trading-platform-API.git
    Documented command
    npm install
  2. Edit keys.js in the API repository root and enter your exchange API keys.

  3. Start the API server with the command below.
