Practical overview
When it fits
Use NOF0 when you want a self-hostable foundation for comparing LLM trading strategies in a shared crypto arena or inspecting associated trading data. Its documented frontend can be started independently; the repository does not provide a complete, finished setup path for live agent execution.
Who it is for
- Developers building or hosting an arena to compare multiple LLM trading agents.
- Researchers and prompt authors who want to inspect agent positions, trades and portfolio performance.
- Contributors interested in extending exchange or LLM-provider integrations.
Documented uses
- Compare portfolio values and trading performance across multiple agents.
- Review an agent's positions, trades and model conversations alongside its ranking.
- Iterate on prompt-based strategies using observed trading outcomes.
- Save upstream NOF1 market and performance data as local JSON snapshots.
Requirements & limits
The repository documents a frontend that can run independently of the backend. Backend and AI execution-engine development are marked as in progress.
- The frontend stack is Next.js, React, TypeScript, Recharts and Zustand; the backend uses Go-Zero.
- The repository describes a REST API and distinct LLM, exchange, market-data, prompt and execution components.
- Hyperliquid is named as the exchange ecosystem, while no other exchange integration is demonstrated.
- The documented snapshot utility saves upstream NOF1 data, which is separate from running NOF0 agents.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Start the NOF0 frontend locally
Launch the documented frontend independently to view its web interface.
Before you start
- A cloned NOF0 repository
- Node.js package tooling capable of running npm commands
Steps
Clone the repository and change into the nof0 directory.
Run the command below to configure recursive submodule handling.
git config submodule.recurse trueChange into
weband run the command below.npm installRun the command below and open
http://localhost:3000.npm run dev
Expected outcome
The frontend development server is documented to serve the interface at localhost:3000.
Guide limitations
- The README describes the frontend as independently runnable, but the backend is unfinished.
- This procedure does not set up or demonstrate live agent execution.
Save a NOF1 data snapshot
Download and store the upstream NOF1 interface data as local JSON snapshots.
Before you start
- A cloned NOF0 repository
- The repository's web package and npm tooling
Steps
Change into the
webdirectory.Run the command below.
npm run snapshot:nof1
Expected outcome
The documented utility writes timestamped JSON files and an index under `snapshots/nof1/`, covering items such as prices, positions, trades, account totals, rankings, analytics and conversations.
Guide limitations
- The utility captures upstream NOF1 data; it is not documented as a way to run NOF0 trading agents.
- Snapshots are excluded from version control by default.
