Moltworker

Moltworker is an experimental Apache-2.0 TypeScript repository that deploys the OpenClaw personal AI assistant inside a Cloudflare Sandbox container on Cloudflare Workers. It provides hosting and deployment infrastructure rather than being the assistant itself.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use Moltworker when the target is an experimental, Cloudflare-based OpenClaw deployment and the operator can configure Workers, Sandbox, authentication and secrets.

Who it is for

  • Developers deploying OpenClaw on Cloudflare Workers.
  • Technically minded users who want a Cloudflare-hosted personal assistant.
  • Builders adapting a sandboxed deployment pattern for agent runtimes.

Documented uses

  • Deploy OpenClaw in a Cloudflare Sandbox container.
  • Provide a Worker-based access point for the OpenClaw Control UI.
  • Protect administrative access with Cloudflare Access and device pairing.
  • Optionally preserve paired devices and conversation history with R2.
  • Route model access through Anthropic or the documented AI Gateway option.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The README requires a Cloudflare Workers Paid plan for Sandbox containers. It also identifies Anthropic API access or Cloudflare AI Gateway credentials as deployment requirements. Container compute, network egress, requests and logs may add costs; the README provides illustrative estimates rather than a fixed price.

  • It runs OpenClaw in Cloudflare Sandbox rather than implementing a separate assistant.
  • Cloudflare Access and device pairing are required before using the Control UI.
  • R2 is optional for persistence across container restarts.
  • The README describes the project as experimental and unsupported.
  • The documented stack is TypeScript, Cloudflare Workers, Cloudflare Sandbox and Wrangler.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Deploy OpenClaw through Moltworker

Set up and deploy the documented OpenClaw Worker infrastructure.

Before you start

  • A Cloudflare Workers Paid plan for Cloudflare Sandbox containers.
  • An Anthropic API key, or the documented Cloudflare AI Gateway credentials.
  • The Moltworker repository and its npm dependencies.
  • A gateway token for remote access.

Steps

  1. Install the project dependencies with npm install.

  2. Store the Anthropic API key with Wrangler, or configure the documented AI Gateway secrets.

  3. Generate a gateway token and store it as MOLTBOT_GATEWAY_TOKEN.

  4. Run npm run deploy and open the deployed Worker URL with the gateway token.

  5. Enable Cloudflare Access and complete device pairing through the admin interface before using the Control UI.

Expected outcome

A deployed Worker provides access to an OpenClaw Control UI after authentication and device pairing.

Guide limitations

  • The project is an experimental proof of concept and is not officially supported.
  • The first request may take one to two minutes while the container starts.
  • R2 persistence is optional; without it, the README does not promise persistence across container restarts.
