Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when you want a local, timeline-based preproduction and prompt-authoring workspace before sending a MiniMax H3 reference-to-video job to ComfyUI.

Who it is for

  • Video creators planning sequences from image, video and audio references.
  • Users building shot-by-shot MiniMax H3 prompts before rendering through ComfyUI.
  • Teams or individuals configuring local runtimes and model workflows for AI video production.

Documented uses

  • Organize visual and audio assets for a video project.
  • Lay out shots, dialogue, markers, ending holds and prompts on timeline tracks.
  • Generate MiniMax H3 Ref2VA prompts and hand selected assets and parameters to ComfyUI.
  • Use a virtual media pool to manage logical assets beyond the default per-segment execution slots.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • It is a desktop application; rendering is handed off to a separately installed ComfyUI instance.
  • The default segment workflow has execution slots for nine images, three reference videos and three independent audio clips; the virtual media pool can hold additional logical assets.
  • Model weights and runtime components are not bundled in the repository and must be prepared separately.
  • The Source Video Cast Remake route has distinct workflow and model requirements from the default Ref2VA path.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Prepare the Studio runtime and launch the desktop app

Complete the documented first-time setup sequence and start the Studio.

Before you start

  • A local copy of the project repository.
  • The separately supplied Studio runtime and required models.
  • A Windows environment for the documented batch launcher.

Steps

  1. Complete the README's Step 1 deployment for the Studio runtime, Qwen3-TTS and VoxCPM2.

  2. Plan and complete the documented host/client deployments for ACE-Step music, SoulX-Singer and audio separation as needed.

  3. From the project root, run .\run_h3_prompt_studio.bat.

Expected outcome

The documented startup path launches the local Studio after its setup stages are complete.

Guide limitations

  • The repository does not include the Python runtime, FFmpeg, model weights, ComfyUI checkpoints or generated videos.
  • The README requires users to prepare the applicable models and deployments before starting.
