Practical overview
When it fits
Use LI.FI SDK when an application needs integrated routing across DEXs and bridges rather than a single-chain swap or bridge implementation.
Who it is for
- Developers building DeFi applications with cross-chain swap or bridging flows.
- Teams creating multi-chain wallets or token transfer interfaces.
- Developers integrating aggregated DEX and bridge routing into an application.
Documented uses
- Aggregate decentralized exchanges and bridges for swap and bridging routes.
- Request quotes and routes for token movements across supported ecosystems.
- Configure wallet providers and execute transactions through ecosystem-specific integrations.
- Track quote and route execution with events and hooks.
- Control supported chains, tokens, bridges, exchanges and solvers through configuration.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and identifies the project as Apache-2.0 licensed. It documents front-end and back-end use, including Node.js and front-end tooling such as Vite.
- The core package is separate from ecosystem-specific provider packages, allowing applications to install only the providers they need.
- The integrating application must construct and supply wallet or client objects to providers.
- The SDK supports EVM, Solana, Bitcoin, Sui, Tron and Stellar provider packages in the repository documentation.
- Configuration can restrict or allow chains, tokens, bridges, exchanges and solvers.
- The documented setup does not specify the complete current set of supported chains, bridges or exchanges.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up LI.FI SDK with an EVM provider
Create an SDK client configured for EVM wallet interactions.
Before you start
- A TypeScript or JavaScript application.
- The core package @lifi/sdk.
- The Ethereum provider package @lifi/sdk-provider-ethereum.
- Viem installed as the EVM ecosystem library.
- A wallet client constructed by the integrating application.
Steps
Install @lifi/sdk, @lifi/sdk-provider-ethereum and viem.
Construct a Viem wallet client with an account, chain and transport.
Create the LI.FI client with an integrator identifier.
Configure EthereumProvider to return the wallet client and pass it to the LI.FI client providers list.
Expected outcome
An LI.FI SDK client is configured with an EVM provider and an application-supplied wallet client.
Guide limitations
- The documented setup does not establish that a transaction has been executed.
- The complete list of supported chains, bridges and exchanges is not specified in the supplied material.
- Wallet construction and account management remain responsibilities of the integrating application.
